I stumbled on to this web site and thought that I could help maybe fit the "old-timer" category.
I remember 25 cent pizza slices at the Acme theater, the Dash-In Drive-In theater (now Safeway), Burleson's Drug Store (soda fountain), Woolworth's on main street, along with JC Penny's, Bernie's Bar, Gamble's (not where it's located now), Rod's for Men, A&W Drive-In, Kimberly Apartments (now a Real-estate Co.) and many changes on Federal Blvd. etc....
My name is Randy Pickinpaugh and find myself thinking about my home town of Riverton and Wyoming more and more. Those were the simple and best days growing-up! I'm proud of my home town and wish everyone there, the BEST! If anyone from my graduating class wants to discuss more.........? rnpick3@cox.net (Patty Tuft, where are you????)

Hello fellow "old timer"!

I found your great Riverton Old Timers website while trying to find someone who qualifies as that. I'm trying to find a Don Casper who came from Riverton, and I believe graduated from a high school there back in the mid-1960s. He came east to the Washington DC area in the early 1970s to go to electronics school and that's when we met. I hoped to reconnect with him after losing track so many years ago. Any idea who he is or where he might be now? Any info you can share would be most appreciated!

Hope to hear from you soon,

Gerald Kehr
If any one knows anything about Don Casper please email oldtimer@wyomingt.com and we will send the information

Loved finding your website and reading about old acquaintances and their activities. I left Riverton in 1975 but still have in-laws there and property. Have been in Alaska since then, and it has treated us well, but Riverton will always be home. I also went to Jefferson, Ashgrove schools. My husband, Allan Applehans class of 67, retired once but has gone back to work consulting for whatever time they need him. We get back to Riverton frequently. Thanks for the work on the site. I know this is a strange reason to view the website and to make a comment, but I was curious about your town. My stepbrother lived there the last five years of his life. He died there 2 weeks ago and I had never bothered to find out where Riverton was. I live in Utah and have traveled to and through many places in Wyoming, but have never beem to Riverton. I have wanted for many years to go camping in the Wind River Range. I hear it is absolutely a must for those of us who love the wild places in the west. Now I really have a reason to go to Riverton, to see what my stepbrother found so fascinating about the town. I am impressed by all the history in that area. Keep up the good job on informing people of the wonders of this part of the country.

To all,

Hello all, my name is James Lang. I was fortunate enough to attend Junior High and High School in Riverton, graduating with the class of ’72. It was like living in the movie “Porkie’s”. More fun than kittens…
Memories from that time include:

Junior High:

The High School kids cruising up and down in front of the Junior High during lunch hour.
“Coach” Andre, the Phys Ed teacher in Junior High yelling at pretty much everyone.
“Crimson and Clover” was the theme song for the eighth grade dance.
Getting in a fight with Larry Apodaca after school for some dumb reason.
Billy Weisheim could throw dodge balls REALLY hard in P.E.
Wrestling team with the Pickenpaughs.
Listening to 60s rock music on KOMA out of Oklahoma City.
Mrs. Irene Goodman, the 186 year old Social Studies teacher with the wooden leg.
High School:

Riverton Wolverines football and basketball games – those crisp, cool night games...
Brenda McCart’s incredible long blond hair (she lived down the street).
Brent McCart, Brenda’s older brother – one of the reasons I never got anywhere with her….
Mr. Hart, the High School Principal, a heck of a nice guy.
Mr. Hart permanently banning me and Billy Connell from Junior/Senior Prom after we spiked the punch at the Prom when we were sophomore ushers.
Spencer “J.D.” Connell, Billy Connell’s marvelous older brother who married Linda Brow and died in ’71.
Lois Sackman, speech, debate, oratory, a wonderful teacher.
Mr. Cassinette, music teacher, very intense, always mad at me for something.
Working for Maxine Schamber, Rob Schamber’s mother, at the Tasty Freeze.
Pat Patton, student music teacher in 1971, an amazing talent.
The “Riverton Spring Nationals” drag races run on the quarter mile strip marked on the straight stretch of road outside of town by the ball fields. I believe Gary Smith’s car usually rocked pretty hard, right Ron Napier?
Keggers, camping and mayhem out by Morton Lake.
Draggin’ Main Street, looking at everyone’s cars.
Keggers, camping and mayhem out by Boysen Reservoir.
The sign on the Dash Inn Drive In (was there for years): “Eat Here, Diet Home”.
The great old library up over the cafeteria with the floor that literally sagged in the middle.
Mrs. Ratliff (aka Rachel !!), teaching Geometry. No sense of humor!
Being hopelessly in love with Sandy Johnson for pretty much all of those years.
The time kids from Lander High School broke in and put live chickens in the jock’s lockers.
Irene and Ilene Vassos, the Greek twins. I liked one of them a lot - can’t remember which one.
Being deep into music with Blake Kinney and Scott Issacson.
Ellen Wheeler, the cute student teacher in Journalism class my senior year.
Working at Taco John’s. Getting fired from Taco John’s. Breakfast at the Coffee Cup Café on Main Street.
Working as a D.J. doing the “Night Flight Show” at.. “KVOW, 1450 on your dial in Riverton, Wyoming”.
Summer thunderstorms, winter snow, clean air, clean fun, a great place to grow up. Thank you, Riverton!

Subject: Lived in Riverton 1966 - 1972 The Lang Family

My name is Bernadette Lang. My family moved to Riverton in 1966 when I was ten years old. We moved away in 1972 when I was around 15 years old. I wanted to stay in Riverton and it broke my heart when we left. I have never quite gotten over leaving. My memories of Riverton are the best of any place I have ever lived. My brother Jim Lang was class of 1972 at RHS He left Riverton after graduation and toured with Up With People, then had a career in the Navy.

I would have been RHS class of 1974 and my brother Joe Lang class of 1975.

I eventually moved to Seattle and worked at Boeing for several years. I am retired now. My brother Joe oversees computing operations for a school district.

I have been homesick for Riverton for so long and sure would like to hear from people in my age group. Riverton is the best place, and I would love to return for a visit.

My renewed interest in Riverton began when I was surfing and ran across the Mountain View Cemetary website. I saw that several people we knew had passed away. Burce Kucera was my first boyfriend (jr high) and I was sad to see he had gone on. One of my friends, Jane Andre was daughter of coach Carl Andre.

Despite it being so many years since 1972, the memories of Riverton just grow warmer and I sure hope to visit again someday. I would love to get another copy of my high school annual and look at pictures.

Thank you for this website. It is a real blessing and I am glad I found it.

My name is Thomas Stafford. I was in Riverton from age 5 or 6 to 8 in 1960. I know the 8 for sure as it was Christmas time and I was in the third grade at Ashgrove School when we moved further north to Glendive, Montana. I remember that we stayed at the Fremont Hotel for a time while our house was being built. I think I lived in the north east corner of town. I also remember that it was a fairly short walk to a field where cattle were grazing during the summer. The herd almost always included a bull with an attitude. The field was bounded by an irrigation ditch on the south at the time. I wonder if the neighbor hood is the one due north of the current location of the Ashgrove School. The house was white with a door that had three slit windows in it. Of course I realize that that could have been changed many times in the last 44 years.
I wonder if your d-base will pop out something.
I know that I will be coming for a visit as soon as I can. *****************************************

Hello from California,

Was born in Riverton in 1941, but moved to California when I was 3. Have been back to visit several times and enjoyed it each time.
My parents were from Lost Cabin/Lysite area. My Gt. grandparents, the Willoughby's owned and operated the Willoughby Hotel in Lysite. Also my grandparents Benjamin F. and Jessie Cunningham owned and operated the General Merchandise store in Lysite many years ago. Of course the old hotel has been gone many years ago, but the store still stands in Lysite.
I enjoyed reading the post notes people wrote about Riverton and also Wyoming. To me Wyoming is "God's Country." Especially around the Wind River Canyon and Thermoplis area.
Over the years my mother donated several items to the Riverton Museum of my grandmothers and recently I donated items and pictures to the museum.
My mother, Livia Cunningham, Root loved her Wyoming home around Lysite/Lost Cabin area and in her declining years she spoke many times she wanted to return. Of course she was not able to travel, but I would have loved to have brought her back to see where she grew up. When we made a trip back several years ago, she cried that she would never see Wyoming again and she was right. Mother passed away in January of this year.
My father was raised on the Root ranch in Lost Cabin near the Big Horns. I had the pleasure to step on that land in 1979 and see what my father meant when he said, "You can see for miles." He was right." Beautiful land.
I was born in a log house, by the railroad track, on an Indian Reservation, Mrs. Luster's home.
Have several cousins, aunts, uncles buried in Riverton and Shoshoni. Have one sister buried in Riverton. My grandparents Root are buried in Thermoplis.
Thank you for your website as reading over some of the postings, I recalled several names I have heard Mother mention over the years.

Mike,

I don't know you and you probably don't know me but we lived in Riverton from 1964-1988. We would like to find out who to contact for the condos or duplexes, whichever they are called, up by the Methodist church that seniors live in. I have emailed Vi and Dick Gilpatrick and Rich and Jospehine Gilpatrick but haven't gotten a response. We would like to have one of those built like Dick and Vi's but don't know who to contact.
Thank you,

I graduated from the "new" high school" in 85' then immediately moved away(as most teenagers probably dream of doing before realizing that the "grassisn't always greener somewhere else",) and ended up marrying my high schoolsweetheart, Sterling. I remember the many parties, keggers etc at BassLake, down by the river and in private houses taking up a good portion of myfree time. Dragging main in my 65' Mustang, still miss that car, took therest of my free time. Oh yeah, and occasionally I went to school. Iremember my best friend teaching me how to ride a motorcycle out on Burmaroad, going all the way to Casper to go see Judas Priest and a few times notbeing real sure how I ever made it home from Joan Rodgers house. Good thingfor back country roads. I remember hanging out at "The Fence" and onlythose who have been there know the sense of belonging that it gave you. Thefence crowd was often looked down on by other "clicks" but no one acceptedyou more for who you were than ours did. I remember cramming 7-9 people inthe 4 person king cab of my mother's Datsun pickup just to go to West MainMarket and Jerry B. using his broken leg to push in the clutch while I didthe gas and brake so that so many of us could fit. Lots of good memoriesfrom those high school years before the real world intruded only to leave merealizing that life after high school required a job and taking care ofresponsibilities so I moved away and came back a few times to find thatthings change with adulthood. It's still a nice town but the "boom" isover. Like one guest to this site said, you can't make the same livingthere as you can in a city.

I lived in Riverton from 1971 until 1986. I remember when McDonalds opened on West Main and people would wait for hours to get a McNugget. It was good to grow up there, even though I've lost track of numerous people, I think of them and remember Riverton as my HOME.

Subject: Missing Riverton, Wyoming!

I sure has been a long time since I lived in Riverton. We moved to Riverton in 1958 and left there in 1969 when we moved to Greeley, Colorado, after my dad became ill. Eleven years of my childhood were spent living in Riverton. Both of my parents have passed away now, but my dad, Earl, worked at the Gas Hills uranium mine and then at the Pay 'N Save grocery store after that and my mom, Esther, worked at the Riverton Creamery and Thriftway grocery store. I don't suppose these places still exist, do they?

My brothers and I went to the Jefferson, Ashgrove and Lincoln schools. I remember eating at the Wheel-In drive-in, the A&W drive-in, the Woolsworth lunch counter and drinking the wonderful cherry Cokes from the fountain at Burleson's Drug Store during the 60's in Riverton. Do any of these places still exist? Some of our friends were the Petersons, Millers, Whites, and Hubbards. Thinking about Riverton during the 60's takes me back to a more simple and innocent time in my life. What wonderful memories I have of growing up there.

Hi!
I am a teacher at a Billings, Montana High School and have a student in my class looking for an article from the Riverton Ranger newspaper. Maybe someone could help me. The article was printed in January of 1999, either 9, 10, or 11th. She was in a car accident and would like a copy of the article. I believe she said it was a one car rollover. If someone could help her, it would be much appreciated. I have tried to get into the archives, but no luck.

my name is Randy Thompson and I graduated from Riverton High in 1960. Don't get back very often but when I do it has always been very special to me. I have lived in many places since I left Riverton but when people ask me where I am from I always tell them "Riverton Wyoming!"

I occasionally get to see Dean Lewis in Jackson or Ron Warpness on the rare occasions I am in Riverton. I admit that the older I get the more I miss the crowd from High School and later from Laramie. God were those simpler times. It was great to be young during those days.

Would welcome correspondence from anyone that would care to drop a line, who knows, I might not be far from where you are and we could have a cold one for old times sake. Also I am writing a book about my travels and the people I have known so who knows, I may be calling and asking for input.

You can reach me at kcarjr@yosemite.net . Once again it would be great hearing from the old Riverton crowd.

Randy Thompson.

And no, I didn't participate in the great water tower painting episode (directly).

Mike,

I wanted to let you know that the Riverton Class of 1984 is in the initial stages of planning a reunion for this summer. We've started collecting information on where everyone is now and as a result, I've built a web page so that people can check it for the latest info and schedule information. As of right now, we're still waiting on a few of the locals to decide on who will chair this event, but in the meantime, I would like to request that you add a link to your page so that we may find a few more of our classmates from back then. The URL is: http://members.panaband.com/mmiller/Reunion2k4/index.htm I've already added a link to your page in return, and if you have any questions at all, please let me know.

Take care,

this is a wonderful site and to all those involved in creating the databases for your cemeteries - my hat is off to you. I just finished (well you are never finished) one for the historic cemetery we have here in Bisbee, AZ.

I was looking because my great grandmother was the school matron at the "Indian School" at the turn of the century. I have very little info on her and didn't find her in any of the cemeteries. I guess I will just have to come up and visit your historical societies. I am curious if the tribes keep information about the school, do you know?Anyway, thank you for creating such an easily manuevered site.

Best wishes,

Hello everyone, what a great site this is, thanks Mike.I was born and raised in Riverton. Graduated from RHS in 1977. I do rememberall the fun times I had in Riverton growing up and all the trouble I gotinto also. It was a truly nice time in my life. I especially remember thegreat times I had playing baseball, from Teeter Park all the way to Legionball. The best year was when I was 12 and we won the state championship andwent to San Bernadino California, (the first 11 and 12 year old All StarTeam to win from Riverton), I believe it was 1972.

I moved back and forth between Riverton and Casper, there wasn't a lot ofwork for draftsman in Riverton at the time and more oppurtunities presentedthemselves in Casper, but soon that faded away also. I am now living inThornton Colorado and working as an Engineering Technician for a Consultingfirm in Littleton Colorado.

Subject: Riverton second try (your guest book will not accept from here??)

I'm Bill Wimpenney, RHS '58.

Married since 1960 (in the church that is now the museum) to Coleen (nee Blumenshine, RHS '59).

My family came to Fremont County in, as nearly as we can tell, in 1874. Great Grandpa Edwin had many business ventures including the freight line from end of rail at Lander to Casper. He and his son Clarence (my Grandpa) had business ventures through-out the county. The Wimpenney Hide Wool and Feed for the ranch business, the Purina elevator for the farmers, an alfalfa mill making green cake where the rail now crosses the Shoshoni highway, a bean elevator in Lander. Edwin was a sponsor of Mr. Lyons whom they brought to Lander to found a tannery based on the Scottish model (he of Lyon's Valley fame). The also were founders of the Riverton Bank (later First national), and were guarantors of the Riverton buckskin bucks during the depression.

Grandma Eula was the Methodist church piano and later organ player from about 1917 till ???'48 or so.

Coleen and I spent to adult stints in Riverton. First just after college (U of W.) ... me working in the old Home Finance Company with Dad (W. B. , RHS ' 28 I think). Coleen taught in Shoshoni.

After our 9 years in Australia, we came back to Riverton and had the Shoe Shoppe (Riverton and Greybull), Children's Shop (Lander), and Quality Outlet (Riverton). That lasted until the Wyoming depression and the uranium mines closed, the iron mine (Atlantic City) closed, the forest grazing permits were cut in half by the Washington bureaucracy, and the bentonite mines were all but closed. We went broke. I went on the road for various shoe companies (Mostly orthopaedic). We ended up in Cottage Grove, Oregon.

When I left the road, I worked at various jobs and started a small shoe/boot repair business at home. After a few years, I settled down to a 6 year stint at Christian Radio for the Southern Willamette Valley, doing repair in the evenings.

A few years ago, Coleen had a series of strokes. Mind is great, but speech halting and gate awkward and very slow. We ended up moving into a large home in rural Eugene, Oregon, where our younger daughter, Julianna Clevenger (nee Wimpenney, RHS '86) lives with us with her kids and dogs and helps take care of Mom!

Older daughter Dorothy Mitchell (nee Wimpenney, RHS '84), is a senior financial accountant for a national labor union in Baltimore, Maryland.

We have a small rental income (some months out-go) and my Social Security. And a big mortgage!. Thank God, I still can do a bit of boot repair out of the home-shop.

We still attend the Church at London, a very old community non-denominational church at the London stage stop about 9 miles up country from Cottage Grove. Coleen still sings alto. I believe it or not, lead the singing for Sunday School every Sunday (so much for those who said I was too poor a voice for RHS Choir or for the Methodist Youth Choir)!

We'd love to hear from any and all.

Hi Mike

Came across your site whilst searching the Fremont County sites trying to locate any relations of mine who may still live in the area.

The details that I have are that the family name was Kalinowski.

Fathers details. Victor, died 1973 aged 66 at 906 Eastview Dr. Riverton Wyoming 82501.

Mothers details. Gertrude Elizabeth, born 10th Jan. 1914. died 9th June 1977 also at the above address.

There were three daughters that I know of and maybe one son. The daughters names are/were Carol Leslie Bird Kalinowski. Lila Kalinowski. I only have the initial S. for the third daughter and no details of the son's christian name.

It appears that Lila married Herb Eastman as I have an address dating from the 1970s. Lila & Herb, Box No. 445, Dubois, Wyoming, 82513.

I am led to believe that Gertrude's parents {Clem & Polly Bird) left England in the late 1800s Polly was my grandmothers sister

Correspondence between England and the U.S. continued up until the death of Gertrude in 1977.

It was Christmas 2002 at my fathers house that I noticed some old envelopes from the U.S.A. I have carried out quite a few searches via. the net locating birth and death dates etc. unfortunately I have not been able to locate any of the surviving family.

I appreciate that this is a long shot and that it may be asking a bit much of you so I will understand if nothing comes of this request for help in tracing my lost relations. Just in case Thanks in anticipation.

Hi all. I was born and raised in Riverton and I recognize some of thenames in the guestbook, even the older ones. I have lived in Billings,MT since I graduated. I missed the reunion in 2000, and can't wait forthe next one. My family still lives there so I have the opportunity tovisit often. Strange how things change, but they seem to stay the sametoo. The only thing keeping me from moving back is my job. Unfortunately nowhere there to earn what I make here. My son and I loveto get down that direction as often as we can. If anyone recognizes me,or is from that era in school, I'd love to hear from you. Kelly Foster ~ kfostk02@eml.cc

Howdy,My name is Ron Napier. Went to school at RHS,RJHS,Ashgrove elementary, and Lincoln elementary. Had a good time browsing letters of former residents of Riverton. Noticed afew things missing from fond memories section.Keggers were mentioned, but not the locations. Does wishing well, double dives, morton lake, griffey hill, or ocean lake peninsula ring a bell with anyone? Did anyone mention the saturday night dances at the armory building? Loved the wagon wheels and cart wheels served at the hilltop drive-in and A&W.How about those cool cars "DRAGGING MAIN" Or the Paradise Valley Nationals. We had a quarter mile marked off with painted start/finish lines. Some of the people I remember with fondness are the thrashing crew (lyn brough, jac miller, clell cain, gary pickinpaugh, gary smith, gary jameson, bill miller, and mike bartlett.I remember we all had a great time, and nobody got in too much trouble.

Hi Mike...really enjoyed your web page...now I know where to go when I startmissing Riverton. Do you have an email for Ken and Sandy Crymble? I saw the note from their daughter. Of course I knew Ken from school (one of the 'older' guys) and a friend of my ex - Bob Butscher. Sandy was actually a friend from Business school here in Denver and I introduced her to Ken...but, of course we have lost track of each other. I am attaching a picture from our mini reunion in Las Vegas in October. We were a small group, but had fun remembering the old days. Keep us posted on 2006 - I'll try to be there. Hi Mike,
Just thought I would drop another line. since I wrote last year concerning my trip to Riverton I have had a few people that I went to school with that saw my letter and have sent me a line. It has been great, after all these years, to actually hear from someone that I knew from that far back. I know there are some pay sites that you can look up your old classmates but most people do not take the time or want to spend the money to join them. Thank you for an alternative. Hi! We are former residents of Riverton (1977-1984) and both worked for what was then Mountain Bell in the Marketing Department at the U S Energy building on Madison. We worked designing and selling telephone systems; our assigned territory included just about everythingin the western half of the state except for Dubois, which had their own Phone company! Lots and lots of "windshield time," but stopping to let herds of migrating pronghorns cross, or seeing the sun light up the Teton's when coming over Togwogtee Pass on a winter morning made it all worth it. When "the phone company" was broken up, we moved first to Cheyenne and finally here to Glendale Arizona. We like Arizona, but we come back to Wyoming every year to camp and fish. We are both retired now after many years of telephony, but our years working in the Riverton office were the best.
Thanks for the memories,

Hello. My name is Terry L. Allison II. I grew up in Riverton from when I was around six or seven years old (in 1978 or so) until I was around 16 years old. I also spent part of my senior year at Riverton High School.

I often remember the joy I had growing up there. I remember some of the teachers I had who influenced my life. Mr. Gardner in middle school (English), Mr. Osborne in high school (chemistry), Mr. Kennedy (high school English), Mr. Holt (Lincoln Elementary spelling). I hope they are all doing well. I just turned thirty years old, and have only visited Riverton briefly overnight while traveling one time in the last twelve or thirteen years.

We had some great family friends... The Johnsons, the Cravens, and many others too numerous to mention.it was nice to see Dana Neil's name and Chris Kennedy's name in the guestbook.

I have been married for nearly five years and have two young daughters. Jitana is the oldest. She was named after Jitana Mercer (my friend Jared Kraus's younger sister). She is barely four years old now. And her younger sister Jordyn will be two in June. My beautiful wife is Mandy.

I have had an entrepreneurial spirit and founded a luxury watch manufacturing company called Montres Allison. We manufacture very beautiful (but expensive) wristwatches. That's what I do.

Anyway... It was nice to write these brief paragraphs. If anybody who knows me should be interested in contacting me, please feel free to email me and I'll get in touch.

Until then...

Have a successful day and best regards,

Hi, I'm Lisa Crymble Brennan. I was born in Riverton in November of 1968 and lived there unitl 1981. Riverton was a great little town to grow up in and afforded me many wonderful memories. My grandparents, Hugh and Miriam Crymble, still live in Riverton, so I get back there every so often. My dad, Ken (K.C.) Crymble worked for Federal Partners out at the Gas Hills and was on the volunteer fire department. He and my mom, Sandy, are now retired and split their time between Sheridan, WY and Lincoln, MT.

I live in Missoula, MT now and work at the University of Montana. It was great to run into your web site today!

This is a great page. It is very informative and inviting. In fact, my husband and I are looking to relocate in the area. We live in Albuquerque and are tired of the hectic city life (and getting dangerous too-last night there was a shot heard at 1 a.m. near our retirement community). The gang activity has moved from LA to this city. Not good.

Being an avid gardener though, I must continue my search to see what the local landscape is like. Here in the desert, water is a premium and my plants have to be watered every day (no rain here in over three weeks). Time to get back and do more searching.

Thank you for a great page.

Subject: checking in

My daughter and 20-25 other teens and chaperones from St. John's Episcopal Church here in Oakland, CA will be heading your way on 17 June to spend a week working on the Arapahoe reservation at Ethete. She is away at college until then but wanted me to check on the weather expectations for your area. I'll be watching the online weather reportsfrom now till then. Incidentally, I myself spent part of the summer of 1963 at the Camp Branson geology field labs in Sinks Canyon. That was the year of the flood on the Popo Agie at the end of June; we werewashed out and our entire contingent of students and professors spent a couple of nights above the post office in Lander...that is, after we closed the Fremont and other similar establishments that remained openin spite of 3-4 feet of water in the streets. I have tried to interest my daughter's group in a visit to Svilar's in Hudson, but don't know how successful I may be. Lander-Riverton was my first exposure to the West (growing up in New Jersey and attending University in Missouri) and has always held a special place in my memory.

after 49 years of living in god's little hell hole, my wife and i are considering a life change. i have been told that riverton has the lowest average wind speed of any city in the country,is this true. are they're many job opportunities up there. are the winters cold and nasty. we've been to jackson and grand teton several times and loved the area. are bears a problem? we enjoy nature and love gardening and yardwork. do you have mild summers or does everything get fried and blown away? do plants survive the winter or do they all die off? if you have answers to any of these ?'s or know where i might look, please e-mail me. thank you for letting me bitch about kansas to you.

I am a member of the class of 85', the first class to completely go throu (9-12) the new high school and the last class to go thru the junior high before it went to a middle school. I left Riverton in 1986 when I joined the Navy, since joining the navy I have lived in several different country and been around the world several times, I have yet to find a place that makes me feel as comfortable as I did as a kid in Riverton. I wish I could raise my kids in Riverton, I remember tooting down the canal, hanging out inwoolsworth, going to the drive in on Fridays, Keg parties at boysen orriding my motorcycle at griffy hills by the rifle range. I ember Scott hobbs, mike and marty markve, jeff sauer, andy davidson, matt fowler, mark dion, and matt leclar and I hunting and fishing and trapping. I had a great childhood in Wyoming and still have friends there that I keep in touch with. I may return when I retire but only time will tell. I will be in Riverton on the 17 and 18 of June 01 as my family and I will be moving from California (thank god) to Virginia, I plan on stopping in and visiting a few friendsand showing my 10 year old daughter and 6 year old son were there Daddy grewhope. Wow i really enjoyed reading some of the e-mail you've gotten from rivertonites. My memory was jolted into a warm, sunny state. I too have many fond memories of growing up in Riverton. I had the distinct pleasure of being a member of the class of "74".I remember going to highschool in the old building on main, being the first class to attend the career center. I enjoyed going to ceramics, with mr little. PE with Ivan Jones, Drafting with Mr. Boyd. I remember swimming in the pool at the high school, setting in the library listening to Deep Purple "Machine Head" on the headphones. I used to love friday nights when we would all go to the drive in movie at the Dash Inn or the Knight Drive Inn, although i dont remember too many of the actual movies.I remember working after school at the junior high as a janitor, with Danny Noble, Rex Wortham, Greg Conner .I rember dragging main with Terry David, Chuck Harris, Steve Carpenter, Tim Farthing, Ray Bradbury,Greg Phisterer, and many others. In my younger years i remember riding my bike (stingray) everywhere i went. To my best friend John Becks house, downtown to the Ben Franklin store, that my grandfather Tom owned. To the little Dime store at the other end of town "northwestern Dime Store".Swimming at the park that cost all of 10cents, getting a creme puff after swimming at Bens Grocery store. I remember Pay & Save,Bi-Rite Drug, looking thru the records at woolsworth........... and so many more sweet memories, I miss It.

Hi Mike
I found your website a few years ago and occasionally visit it to see comments from former Rivertonites.

I am part of the Tonkin Foundation that was formed about 14 months ago to renovate Tonkin Stadium and all of its history. We met again last night and watched a presntation from Brad Gard, a RHS Senior, who is developing a website for our cause. I brought up the idea of linking it to your site to maximize our coverage to Alumni of RHS.

We believe alumni of RHS will have to play a big role in our fund raising drive and your site gets a lot of hits, many who are alumni.

Would such a link be possible and permissible with you? You can email me at my business address or contact me Thanks for your web-site.... it is always interesting.

I've applied for any teaching positions in your community, but the district office secretary said it didn't look hopeful, so we're rather isappointed. I have been trying to find a '61 yearbook to no avail. My wife tried to advertise in the Riverton Ranger for one but once again no luck. I'm trying to decideif I should go to the 40th class reunion this year. Bet I wouldn't recognize anyone!!!!? I was drafted in the army in '65 and wound up with the 101st Airborne Division at Fort Campbell, KY, got out in'67 and stayed here. Married in '68 I've only been back to Riverton twice in forty years.

Hello to all!! My name is Shawn Dippert-McMillan and have been reading this board. What a great thing to do! I'm not in Riverton, now living in Casper. I've been in Casper 3 1/2 years. I remember growing up in Riverton -- I remember going to The Creamery for ice cream in the summer. I graduated in 1981- The NEW HIGH SCHOOL!! Boy, weere we special. I have pictures of the OLD HIGH SCHOOL as it was being torn down. That hill still looks empty to me. I knew Carla Kottcamp, we were neighbors on Elk Drive in jr. high. She was a year older than me. All the parties ..dragging Main, the A & Wwas always a fun place to hang out. Who could forget the "Dash In"? We always called it "The Trash In". I have known many people in Riverton and have witnessed many tragedy's in people's lives..Riverton is a place where everyone is willing to help when needed. I know that Riverton people are everywhere..giving whatever they have to give and offer a kind word in a pinch. When I grew up, it was WILD. There are so many old friends I would love to hear from. If anyone knows where I can locate Bessie Pettijohn, or her sister, Patty. We were friends and neighbors on Eastview Drive. I'll never forget going to the Acme theater to see the movie JAWS --the line went all the way around the Woolworth building!! Quite a thing in Riverton!! I was in 7th grade at the time. It sure has been fun sharing memories and hope everyone will add something. Shawn McMillan email @ BaxterFatCat@aol.com (how original to use my cat's name for my email) HA HA Oh--one more thing, the Ballon Rally every summer! Don't miss it!

Ironically only yesterday we visited the Lewis and Clark museum in St Charles Mo. we live about 3 hours from St Louis and wanted to take a day trip and this is where we chose to go. Now I find that Sacajewia and Chief Washakie are buried in your area. What a small world. We are visiting the Yellowstone Park and Jackson Hole area and your town seems to be just where we need to be. Your website is great. It has helped me tremendously and I noticed a lot of different things we would be interested in. One event I didn't read about was a rodeo. Do you happen to have them too? Sure hope so. Would appreciate any info you could send our way regarding Rv parks in your area. Thank you very much

My name is Bill Perkins and I graduated in 1977. I left Riverton right after graduation and have not been back since, but I have stayed in Wyoming for the past 20 something years. I had a great time in High school in the old school and remember a few things. I remember the Fair and rodeo. I remember our ranch on top of Burma Hill (First house built on Burma Hill). And I remember being in Choir with Mrs. Anderson and Mr. Cassinet and being in speach with Mrs. Lois Sackman. I think this is a good thing you are doing, letting people leave messages on your site and if anyone wants to write me they are more than welcome.
My address is BDPerky@webtv.net

Hallo, ich melde mich bei euch aus Ingolstadt (Germany) eine schöne bayrische Stadt an der Donau wo die tollen Autos gebaut werden (Audi).

Viele liebe Grüße aus" Bavarian"sendet

Subject: Hello from Europe!!

I was just sitting here in our hotel room overlooking the beautiful Salzburg Austria, checking my email, doing some business, and thought I'd drop into your site to say hello. Maybe Salzburg Austria will qualify for your "furtherest" away visitor to your site this week! LOL

It's still nice, no matter how far away I am, to drop in on Riverton to say hello and stir old memories! So, Hello Riverton!

We spent Christmas in Paris, and New Years Eve with friends in Germany. Next week we'll be in Rome for about 10 days and then on the beautiful island of Crete, then the Holy Land! (hope things are calm when we get there!)

We'll soak up some of that wonderful Mediteranean sun for you all back in the frozen tundra!

Have a great New Year!

Phil and Virginia Adcock and family,
(Jessica, Jenny, Sarah Marie, Phillip II, and Hugh III)
